Chelsea are set to sign Christian Pulisic ahead of Liverpool after the Borussia Dortmund attacker decided he wants to join Maurizio Sarri’s side, reports say.
Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp have been chasing Pulisic for several years and the American is seemingly available after deciding against extending his stay at Dortmund.
Pulisic wants to move on and Dortmund are poised to cash in on the 20-year-old before his contract runs out in 2020.
Manchester United have also been linked with a move for Pulisic, but it seems they and Liverpool will miss out on the chance to sign the youngster.
The Daily Mail claim Chelsea have won the race for Pulisic and an announcement could be confirmed next month ahead of a summer switch. However, a transfer fee is yet to be agreed between Dortmund and Chelsea, but the deal is expected to be worth around £60million.
Pulisic fuelled talk of a switch to England last month when he said he saw no reason why he wouldn’t soon play in the Premier League.
‘England, the Premier League, is a league where lots of kids dream of playing so there is no reason why maybe one day I won’t play here,’ he said. ‘As you can see, we are having a great year at Dortmund and I am enjoying every moment of that.
‘Then when the time comes for me to talk in the breaks about my future, then that’s when those things happen. ‘Like I said before, reading these articles [about me], I tend to stay away from that stuff. I know it is going to be there but it is not my priority.’ He added: ‘Not much reaction for me. ‘When the time comes for me to talk in the breaks with Dortmund about my future, then that’s when those things happen.’
