According to express, Frank Lampard has made Werner a top target, but is aware that a deal is near on impossible in January.

After having their transfer ban lifted, Chelsea are looking to make up for lost time in the market.

Lampard has identified his attack as an area that requires attention and he wants another striker to provide competition for Tammy Abraham.

And now Werner has insisted that he is open to a Premier League move in the future, despite being fully committed to Leipzig at the moment.

The 23-year-old told Bild: “The Premier League is certainly the most interesting league, you have to say. “There is a certain flair to watching the English league and playing there.

“But many Germans have also been very successful in Spain, such as Sami Khedira and Mesut Ozil.”

Werner was then asked to clear up whether he’d consider leaving Leipzig this month if an attractive offer arrived. His response was clear: “As of now I have no desire to look for a move elsewhere.”
