Chelsea won race to sign Premier League star, as Blues make contract offer to World Cup-winner
Zak Sturge of Brighton is on the verge of being signed by Chelsea, despite competition from many Premier League clubs.
Strurge, 18, represented Brighton in 16 games last year in the Premier League U18 League. Due to his performances, another Premier League club has expressed interest in the young defender, and they plan to sign him.
According to 90min, a deal for Chelsea to bring Sturge to Stamford Bridge is almost complete.
In order to further in his career, the England youth international turned down a new deal with Brighton.
Chelsea appears to have won the race for the left-back over Tottenham, Leeds, and Brentford.
Struge’s chances of breaking into the first squad any time soon are slim, but joining the renowned Cobham academy can only benefit his development.
There is proof that there is a route to first-team football thanks to the likes of Mason Mount and Reece James, who are now regulars in the Chelsea club.
Ousmane Dembele has reportedly received a contract offer from Chelsea.
L’Equipe has reported that the Premier League heavyweights are eager to lure the French attacker to Stamford Bridge in time for the upcoming season.
Dembele, 25, is out of contract after failing to reach an agreement with Xavi’s team on a contract renewal, and that might lead to a shock transfer to the Premier League.
Despite moving from Bundesliga team Borussia Dortmund to the Nou Camp in 2017, Dembele has had trouble regaining the form that earned him that jaw-dropping £126 million deal.
Despite his high transfer fee, the 2018 World Cup winner has missed 102 games (Transfermarkt), across all competitions, since joining the Catalan giants five years ago due to injuries.
Dembele would be an incredible addition to Thomas Tuchel’s team, though, should he accept Chelsea’s demands, if the Blues can get the winger back to his best, physically and emotionally.
The 25-year-old scored 10 goals and assisted on another 22 during his first and only season with Dortmund. These are remarkable totals, and should they be repeated, Chelsea will undoubtedly reach new heights.
