Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta spoke to Stadium Astro after Chelsea’s game with Newcastle this past Sunday.
The defender, who started in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Newcastle, spoke briefly about his ankle injury which he picked up during said game.
When asked if his ankle was ok Azpilicueta replied,
“Ye, ye it’s fine, just a bit [of swelling].”
Chelsea 2-1 Newcastle
Azpilicueta also spoke about the game itself and how happy he was to pick up his first win vs Newcastle.
“It’s my first win against Newcastle with Chelsea, so obviously we new before the game that it could be tough and it was.
“So we are really pleased that we got the win in the end.
“ I think we control the game very well in the second half.
“They had just one shot and scored, we controlled the game when we were 1-0 up so that’s disappointing.”
Chelsea controlled the game as Newcastle looked to ‘park the bus’.
However, Eden Hazard would eventually give Chelsea the lead in the 76th minute.
Newcastle would bring the game level in the 83rd minute but a Newcastle own goal would eventually give Chelsea all three points.
Hazard’s rough treatment vs Newcastle
One player who received a lot of rough treatment from Newcastle for Chelsea was star man, Eden Hazard.
Hazard was fouled countless times and Azpilicueta has also had his say on Hazard being continually fouled.
“When know that all the defenders they try to get in really tight.
“The only thing we can do is ask the referee to take part of that because you know today how many fouls he had on him.
“Obviously it is difficult but he has shown great quality, great character and obviously he is a very important player for us.”
