Chelsea’s full squad for match against Everton has been revealed, with Thomas Tuchel facing a problem with Chelsea star
With a win over Everton on Sunday, Chelsea can take another significant step towards ensuring their spot in next season’s Champions League. However, with the Toffees fighting to avoid relegation, this will be anything but a routine match.
However, Burnley’s 2-1 win over Watford on Saturday moved them back above Everton and even Leeds in the Premier League relegation battle, and Frank Lampard will not want to be the guy who sends them down for the first time. Lampard will be facing Thomas Tuchel for the first time since being sacked by the club where he is considered as a legend, so he may well have something to prove.
Chelsea missed a lot of golden opportunities on Thursday night, with Kai Havertz being the worst offender despite assisting Marcos Alonso on his goal. It has given him a headache ahead of the match against Everton, despite the fact that he reaffirmed his faith in his front-line after the game.
Tuchel stated of Kai Havertz: “He needs to battle back into his shape.” “It’s the same way; I have the same feeling.” Hopefully, he reacts in some way. The forwards are still young, and we won’t start pointing fingers just yet because they’ve been very, very composed and efficient in front of goal recently. We took our chances extremely effectively and very accurately against Southampton and in the Bernabeu victory.
“It’s similar to this. When we look at the statistics and consider who plays and who doesn’t, we see Kai and Timo putting in a lot of effort and sprints (Werner). So they don’t arrive fully, fully fresh in these matches at the moment, which is why we will constantly protect them because we play a team style and we expect a lot off the ball in order to have high recoveries. But I agree that he had a shape and form in the last few weeks that he would’ve put this game to rest for us.”
The whole Chelsea squad for Tuchel’s side is listed below:
Goalkeepers: Edouard Mendy, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Marcus Bettinelli
Defenders: Trevoh Chalobah, Malang Sarr, Thiago Silva, Marcos Alonso, Reece James, Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen
Midfielders: N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Saul Niguez, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mason Mount
Forwards: Kenedy, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic, Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner
