Chelsea’s new owner predicts a Saudi takeover following a £4.25 billion deal

Todd Boehly, the new owner of Chelsea, believes that in the next seasons, Newcastle United may turn the “big six” into the “big seven.”

The American, who owns the Los Angeles Dodgers and just completed a £4.25 billion takeover at Stamford Bridge, believes the Premier League will be more competitive than ever, predicting that “everyone will have a chance to win.”

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment owns 80% of the club following a £300 million takeover in October, with Amanda Staveley and the Reubens owning 10%.

Boehly has identified Newcastle United as a team capable of competing with Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur following the infusion of Saudi money:

“With the Saudi purchase for Newcastle, the big six will become the big seven.”

“Everyone will have a chance to win,” says Todd Boehly.

The majority of Newcastle fans would gladly give their right arm for a top-seven finish by the end of the season – even a top-half finish would be a welcome sight.

Given the league’s poor performance last season – Manchester United had their worst season ever and yet finished sixth – there’s no reason why we can’t contend for seventh place if we make the right signings.

We will be on our approach to establishing the backbone of a very good side if we can secure some of the top targets, such as Ekitike and Botman, as well as a great goalkeeper, who can hopefully improve on Eddie Howe’s achievements last season.
