Christian Pulisic: Why I decided to move to Chelsea FC

Pulisic gave an interview with his new employers ahead of his move to Stamford Bridge earlier this week after Chelsea FC agreed a deal to sign the United States international back in January.

Chelsea FC are thought to have paid a transfer fee in the region of £58m to win the race to sign the highly-rated American playmaker.

Pulisic spent the remainder of the 2018-19 season at Borussia Dortmund, finishing with a return of four goals and four assists in 20 games in the German top flight.

The American playmaker will be tasked with adding more creativity to a Chelsea FC team that struggled for consistency throughout their first season under Maurizio Sarri.

Pulisic has now explained why he decided to move to Chelsea FC from Dortmund at this stage of his career in his first full interview with the club.

“I always wanted to play professionally, especially in Europe and the Premier League was what I was able to watch growing up in the US, and it is always where I wanted to be,” Pulisic told Chelsea FC’s website.

“I was 15 when I moved to Dortmund. It was something I always wanted and it was just a matter of finding the right time.

“Now I just felt that it was the right step [to join Chelsea]. It was a great time in Dortmund but it was a feeling and I still have that.

“This is the biggest stage, it is incredible to come in and be in England and part of this league. If you want to prove yourself it is the greatest stage to be on.”

The 20-year-old has already established himself as a key player in the United States set up following 10 goals in 25 games for the national team.

Pulisic found the net 19 times in 127 games during four seasons in the Borussia Dortmund first team but the Chelsea FC signing only won the German Cup at the Westfalenstadion.
