Class act! See how Chelsea loanee Malang Sarr reacted to Porto’s defeat against Chelsea
Malang Sarr joined Chelsea from French club Nice at the end of last season, on a free transfer before going on loan to Porto for the rest of the season.
Sarr had been a prospect in the Ligue One before Chelsea snapped him up for free, and he had spent a little time with his new teammates before heading out on loan.
Sarr’s Porto had been drawn to face Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-finals, and for him, it’s a case of parent club vs loan club.
Sarr was named on the bench and didn’t get to feature against the Blues, as Chelsea won the first leg meeting 2-0 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium on Wednesday night.
After the full-time whistle was blown, Sarr first met his downcasted Porto mates to offer commiserations before catching up with those at Chelsea.
The 22-year-old embraced Edouard Mendy whom he knew from the French league, and also Ben Chilwell, Tammy Abraham, Olivier Giroud, and N’Golo Kante. Sarr shared a warm joke with Kante and also had a chance to introduce himself to the new boss Thomas Tuchel.
Sarr and Tuchel shook hands briefly, in what was their first ever meeting. And for Sarr, he’d be hoping to impress the German next season.
