Chelsea have been linked with a move for Hysaj Elseid but there is a twist in the report as the Metro claims he will only sign for the Blues only if Maurizio Sarri replaces Antonio Conte.
Hysaj featured 45 times for Sarri’s side last term, putting himself on the radar of many European clubs in the meantime.
The duo have worked together for six years at both Napoli and Empoli.
It is believed if Sarri does move to west London it could provide an avenue to signing 24-year-old defender Hysaj.
His agent confirmed his client is currently unsettled and disappointed by Sarri’s departure and the subsequent arrival of Carlo Ancelotti.
The Albania international joined Napoli in Sarri’s first summer at the club, turning down a move to Juventus in the process.
‘He has a €50m release clause,’ his representative Mario Giuffredi told Radio CrC. ‘I think only Premier League clubs can afford him, so his fate depends on Sarri.’
‘If the Tuscan Coach was to move to England, he could want [Hysaj]. Therefore, Hysaj could follow him.
“Failing that, it would be very difficult to see Hysaj away from Napoli.”
