Conor Gallagher sends vital Chelsea captain role message to Reece James ahead of his return

Chelsea Midfielder Conor Gallagher was named Chelsea captain for the Fulham match and it appears the youngster may be filling the role for a while until Ben Chilwell and Reece James returns.

However, both James and Chilwell are back on the injury and against every thought, Mauricio Pochettino picked Conor Gallagher as the temporal captain ahead of Thiago Silva who everyone pointed at as possible to step up for the role.

However, it’s also understood that the Argentine Boss picked Gallagher as a move to boost his confidence in the club. The youngster on his own end also had a alot to say.

Speaking on the captaincy role, Gallagher sai:

“It’s a really proud moment for me whenever I captain the club and to do it a few times now, it means so much to me. Chelsea is my club, I’ve supported them all my life and I just want to do so well whenever I step onto the pitch in a Chelsea shirt.”

“To captain this club on the few occasions I have now is amazing and I just want to keep performing as well as I can to help the team to win games.”

“We’ve got a very young squad here and I would say I’m probably one of the more senior players now in terms of Premier League experience.”

“We are a young squad, but we have lots of talented players and we are trying our best to work together and understand each other’s games, which I think you saw against Fulham.”
