Conte set to leave Inter within 48 hours after latest conflicts with club and Lukaku decision
According to Italian sports publication, Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Former Chelsea coach Antonio Conte and Inter Milan are heading for ‘a divorce’.
However, the publication claims that Conte has had disagreements with the club’s president Steven Zhang and their Chinese owners Suning.
Reportedly, they told the club’s hierarchy that they must lower the wage bill by up to 20 per cent and raise £69 million in player sales by the end of the transfer window.
Inter are going through financial issues and player sales and wage-cutting might be the way to better their position – however, Conte ‘expressed his bitterness’ with the decision.
He has one year left on his deal and is set to meet with Zhang this week to discuss the termination of his contract, which could cost around £5.2million.
However, it’s possible that this meeting is just a formality and Conte will leave Inter within the next 48 hours.
Meanwhile, For Chelsea, this news can be interesting as Inter need to raise money through player sales and Romelu Lukaku could be a big name leaving the club for that to happen.
The Blues need a striker and while there’s no indication of Lukaku wanting to leave Inter, this situation might work out in Chelsea’s favour – we’ll have to wait and see!
