A report via the Daily Star claims Chelsea are close to securing a loan deal for Gonzalo Higuain move to Stamford Bridge but the deal will involve Alvaro Morata move the other way.
The Blues have been strongly linked with a move for AC Milan forward Higuain, who is currently on loan from Juventus, for some time.
It is understood Chelsea transfer chief Marina Granovskaia has been in charge of negotiations over a deal with Milan sporting director Leonardo.
Allowing Chelsea to take over Higuain’s loan would save Milan money, as Chelsea would have to pay the remaining £8million fee to Juve. Higuain also earns more than Morata’s £140,000-a-week Chelsea wages.
And talks appear to have gone well with Italian publication Sports MediaSet claim Higuain’s departure is now ‘inevitable’ with the final details of the deal all but ‘agreed’.
Morata has not scored in the Premier League since the start of November and has been out injured. It appears increasingly likely Chelsea are willing to send the Spaniard out on loan or cut their losses on him.
The Argentine is still under contract with Juve though and the Serie A champions still need to agree to the proposed January deal.
