The blues are ready to splash a club-record fee for Jadon Sancho, The Sun claims.
According to the British tabloid, the Blues are leading in the race for the 19-tear-old forward who is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.
However, as the Bundesliga side are reluctant to let Sancho go in January, they may arrange a deal on the same terms as the one for Christian Pulisic last winter.
The American’s transfer was secured in January, but he was immediately loaned back to Dortmund until the end of the 2018/19 season.
Man United and Liverpool are also reported to be keen on Sancho, but it is understood that Chelsea are the only club prepared to meet Dortmund’s valuation of the England international which is likely to be around £120m.
Earlier, Frank Lampard has admitted that Chelsea have not been able to fully replace Eden Hazard who departed to Real Madrid in the summer, and that reinforcing the attacking line would be his priority in January. Sancho already has chemistry with some Chelsea players: This season, Jadon Sancho has made 24 appearances for his current club, scoring 12 goals and providing 14 assists in all competitions.
Callum Hudson-Odoi’s best pal is not the only winger monitored by Chelsea. According to the Telegraph, the Blues are also looking at players like Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha, Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey and Villareal’s Samuel Chukwueze.
