Fabrizio Romano CONFIRMS Chelsea are ‘Very happy’ with summer signing

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea is “very happy” with Nicolas Jackson’s influence despite his subpar performance against Manchester City in the Blues’ FA Cup semi-final loss.

The 22-year-old Jackson was unable to build on his goal and assist against Everton on Monday night as he wasted multiple excellent opportunities during the match.

Chelsea was denied the chance to avenge their defeat to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final in February as Man City advanced to the FA Cup final thanks to a goal from Bernardo Silva in the second half.

Although Jackson was a key reason why Chelsea crashed out of the competition, with the Blues forward unable to get on the scoresheet, Mauricio Pochettino’s side remain happy with Jackson, despite their well-documented pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

What has Fabrizio Romano said?

Romano spoke about the cup semi-final and Jackson’s future at Chelsea in his CaughtOffside column.

“I thought it was unlucky for Chelsea, but also congrats to Man City for how they reacted by winning a difficult game after the Champions League defeat against Real Madrid,” Romano said.

“Mauricio Pochettino did a good job again, this group needs time to perform and also some more experienced players to help the youngsters.

“Nicolas Jackson is being made a bit of a scapegoat after missing some big chances, but it’s his first season, coming from Villarreal, and he’s still very young.

“We need to understand that players are not robots, it’s been a difficult season for Chelsea but Jackson scored an important number of goals and the club believes he has an important potential.

“They will give him time for sure, they are still very happy with a signing they completed for a normal fee.”

Jackson joined Chelsea for €38 million from Villarreal last summer and he has 13 goals and five assists so far this season.
