It was a night to remember for Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour. Thrust into the starting line-up for the visit of premier league leaders Liverpool, many players of his age would have buckled under the pressure.
But not Gilmour, the 18-year-old is of a different ilk. An assured confident performance, pinpoint passing, dribbling past the Reds midfield with ease. It was a performance of the highest order, one you would expect from a far more experienced seasoned professional.
Gilmour, making only his fifth senior appearance, was deservedly awarded the man of the match award by BBC Match of The Day. An accolade that will surely spur him on to greater recognition.
Former Blues midfielder, Cesc Fabregas, didn’t waste any time giving the youngster praise. The Spaniard took to Twitter to share his thought on the former Rangers youth.
These coming works could prove pivotal for the young Scot. Jorginho is now suspended for Chelsea’s next three games. Everton this Sunday, Aston Villa the following Saturday, and then Bayern Munich.
March could well be the month that everyone hears the name Billy Gilmour. The youngster is yet another success of Frank Lampard’s willingness to give youth a chance.
Fantastic. Personality on the ball, intelligence in his desicion making, always making angles to offer himself and has that bit of aggression in him which is very important specially in the Premier League. 👏🏻
