February warning! Captain Cesar fires massive message to Chelsea players ahead of ‘pivotal month’

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has warned Chelsea that February could be a pivotal month in their battle for a top-four Premier League finish.

Frank Lampard has proved many people wrong this season that felt that he was not ready to lead the Chelsea side, as he has managed to get the best out of his youngsters in the chase for a top four spot and Champions League football next season.

But over the past few weeks, the Blues have picked up a number or injuries to the starting eleven and the results have not been a pro-active as many fans would like, as the hunt for the top four spots is on between now and the end of the season.

And the frustrated skipper was left to lament another missed opportunity as Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw by 10-man Arsenal in west London on Tuesday, despite the fact they had led the match on both occasions. Now he has warned his side that February is the month they need to knuckle down and pick up results, as it is a pivotal month in the clubs chances to get back inside the Champions League places.

“We have missed many opportunities to be higher up the table, so we have to learn from that,” said Azpilicueta on the club website. “We cannot go back and change the results from the last few games.

“And now we have three important games in front of us in the Premier League that could define our position in the table. And obviously every point is huge, and hopefully we can have good games and win them. “It’s going to be an important month. But every match is three points to be played for the same way we have been fighting for three points in every other game.”

The Premier League is one of the hardest in the game right now and that fight for that top four spot is as hard as it has ever been. But Chelsea do have the squad and the hunger to get the results they need, Lampards side just needs to learn how to keep a clean sheet and keep the opposition out. They also need to add a leader to the side this month.
