Five could stay as these 11 players set to leave Chelsea this summer

There could be a lot of changes to Chelsea’s squad over the course of the summer transfer window.

After heavy investment in the past twelve months, there are now over thirty first-team players so there are expected to be plenty of departures in order to balance the books.

In fact, from our calculations, the number of sales could reach double figures, while only a few could escape the chopping block.

Kepa Arrizabalaga: Chelsea are reportedly actively looking for a new number one and, despite the Spaniard having regained his starting spot, he could be sold for the right price.

Edouard Mendy: The Senegalese international’s stock has dropped markedly over the past twelve months and, after rejecting a new contract from the Blues, he is expected to be made available for transfer.

Cesar Azpilicueta: The club captain turned down Barcelona to sign a new two-year deal last summer, but form and fitness have limited his game time, and he could be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge after eleven years.

Kalidou Koulibaly: Despite only joining Chelsea last year from Napoli, the 31-year-old has struggled in the Premier League and, with his sky-high wages, the Blues are likely to be open to offers.

Hakim Ziyech: An admin error only stopped the Moroccan from leaving the club on loan for Paris Saint-Germain in January, and he will be allowed to leave for a pretty low price at the end of the season.

Christian Pulisic: The American international has been a massive disappointment since joining Chelsea. He has shown flashes of inspiration but injury problems have limited his impact. His exit from Stamford Bridge after four years is expected.

Denis Zakaria: After struggling to hold down a first team place since arriving on loan from Juventus, the Swiss midfielder is set to return to his parent club this summer.

Mateo Kovacic: The Croatian is closing in on the final year of his contract and, with no extension having been signed, a sale is looking increasingly likely. Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United have been credited with an interest.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek: The 27-year-old’s contract expires in 2024 so the Blues will try to raise some cash from his sale before he can leave on a free transfer.

Conor Gallagher: Recent reports suggest that Chelsea are prepared to sell the England international at the end of the season if a club offers around £45m. The likes of Liverpool, Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund have all been mentioned as potential suitors.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: Brought in at the behest of previous manager Thomas Tuchel, the forward has barely featured in recent months and a return to Barcelona is a possibility.

The Five That Could Stay

Levi Colwill: A number of Premier League teams would like to sign the centre-back, but it is believed that Chelsea are keen to keep him after his loan spell at Brighton, and they are set to offer the defender a new contract.

N’Golo Kante: The Frenchman’s current deal expires in the summer, but it has been widely reported that the midfielder will put pen to paper on an extension in the not-too-distant future.

Mason Mount: While Liverpool have made Mount a priority target, Chelsea are still trying to convince him to stay and sign a new contract. Most recent reports suggest that there is now a greater chance of that happening.

Joao Felix: There have been rumours about another potential loan deal for the Portuguese international but the final decision will likely rest with the club’s next permanent manager.

Kai Havertz: The German has two years left on his current deal, and negotiations over a contract extension are expected to take place in the coming weeks.
