Shaka Hislop has claimed that Bournemouth stopper Aaron Ramsdale would be a wonderful signing for Chelsea if they made a move.
There has been a lot of speculation in the media over the past few months which has suggested that Frank Lampard is keen to offload Spanish stopper Kepa in the summer after becoming frustrated at the young mans performances on a weekly basis.
And that has led to speculation in the media suggesting that Lampard is keen to add a new stopper to the side, with Athletic Madrid star Jan Oblak the number one target for the Chelsea boss.
But Hislop has opened up and told the Blues that they should make a move for Ramsdale, who has been one of the most impressive stoppers in the Premier League this season for the Cherries, Hislop told ESPN FC: “Yes. Ramsdale has been simply outstanding, there’s no other way to put it.
“And you understand Frank Lampard’s and Chelsea’s frustrations with Kepa and as much as there’s been a link with Spain, I still think that move is easier said than done.
“But let’s just say somehow they get everything sorted and Kepa moves on, Ramsdale comes in, I think he does a wonderful job for Chelsea. “I think he has been outstanding for Bournemouth in a very difficult circumstance.
“He’s been solid. Looking at him early on, as a young goalkeeper, you’re looking for weaknesses in his game and I don’t think he has an awful lot. “I think he improves thanks to experience but he’s a solid shot-stopper.
“He always looks composed within the goal, has a real presence about him which is not something I say about many goalkeepers easily. “And aerially I’ve been impressed, or there’s nothing that’s concerned me, so I think he only gets better.”
Ramsdale has been decent this season, there is no doubt about that, but if Chelsea are looking to add a top-class stopper to the side, then the Blues need to go out and try to make a move for Oblak, he would be the better option.
