Four Chelsea players set to be sold, as Erling Haaland close to Chelsea move

According to reports, Chelsea are keen on landing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund and are looking to raise £86 million to seal the deal ahead of other suitors.

This means the Blues have to sell some players to be able to raise cash for the swoop before the end of the summer transfer window.

With about 86million (€100m) needed, it is understood that four players needed to be offloaded as manager Thomas Tuchel wants to strengthen for a Premier League title push.

Chelsea’s biggest summer objective appears to be the acquisition of a new centre-forward with Borussia Dortmund striker Haaland the most attractive proposition for them.

The 20-year-old boasts of 41 goals in 41 games for Dortmund last season. In addition, he had 12 assists, helping the German giants to win the DFB Pokal and qualify for Champions League football.

However, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Ross Barkley and Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud have all been named as possible names that could be used to raise funds.

Arrizabalaga is only the second choice goalkeeper to Edouard Mendy after falling down the pecking order, following strings of blunders. He costs the Blues a lot to bring him and keeping him as well.

For midfielder Ross Barkley, who spent last season out on loan at Aston Villa, his time might be off at Chelsea. No doubt a deal would be sanctioned if the offers are attractive enough to the Blues.

However, Tammy Abraham fell by the wayside once Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard midway through the campaign and Giroud has never been a regular starter.

Should these four players leave, Chelsea should be able to raise about £68 million from their sales.

Unless Thomas Tuchel will continue to bank on the likes of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz to give him the goals that will help him compete with Manchester City for the Premier League title.

Meanwhile, Tuchel led Chelsea to a Champions League win last season. He is looking to consolidate with a Premier League title in the coming season.
