Frank Lampard drops first-choice XI hint ahead of Manchester United game

Chelsea faced German side Borussia Monchengladbach in their final warm-up game of the pre-season on Saturday. The Blues went two goals down before fighting back in the second half to earn a 2-2 draw.

Manager Frank Lampard revealed during the game the starting eleven that are likely to take on Manchester United in the Premier League opener next week. Lampard made some selections that many expected.

Kepa in goal was one of them as the Spanish stopper is expected to be the man in the sticks. In the centre back position, Kurt Zouma and Christensen played in the role. This could change as the Blues have been leaky at the back.

Club captain Azpilicueta remains a dependable player and should start as the right-back why Brazilian Emerson appears to have won the battle for the left-back position.

The midfield has the impressive duo of Kovacic and Jorginho but if Kante is fit that could push Kovacic out of the starting spot. While young attacking midfielder Mason Mount appears to be the player in the number 10 role. However, Ross Barkley could also feature in the position at Old Trafford.

Tammy Abraham started on Saturday and could be Lampard’s favoured forward this season with Christian Pulisic and Spanish ace Pedro manning both flanks.
