Frank Lampard made final decision on Nathan Ake transfer to Chelsea

Chelsea are ready to snub their chance to bring Nathan Ake back to the club during the January transfer window. The defender left Stamford Bridge for Bournemouth for half that fee back in 2017, and is now set to continue his stay on the south coast.

Ake made 17 first-team appearances for the Blues between 2012 and 2017, seven of which came in the Premier League. In contrast, the 24-year-old didn’t miss a game in the league in each of the last two full seasons at Dean Court, finding his feet under Eddie Howe.

The news that Chelsea had the chance to bring the defender back to the club would likely have tempted Frank Lampard into making a move, which now looks unlikely.

However, The Sun have claimed that with Andreas Christensen set to stay in west London, the clause for Ake will go unused before it expires at the end of the month.

“I think he’s been around a long time and went on loan at a young age and did particularly well and people think that he’s probably older than he is. “He’s still relatively young so that’s absolutely on his side.

“What I want from Andreas is to be the best he can be.

“When you see him and you see the height, the athleticism and the quality on the ball, particularly in choice of pass, then I think he can be all the things I want him to be and I want to work towards that. He knows that.
