‘Full credit to him, He has full confidence’ — Tuchel reveals Chelsea player makes him proud

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was again a hero in the penalty shootout as the Blues defeated Southampton in the Carabao Cup round of 16 clash at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

Chelsea had taken the lead through Kai Havertz just before half-time, but Che Adams equalised immediately after the restart.

Although Kepa made a mistake for Adams’ goal, he also made some excellent saves in the second half to keep Chelsea in the game and was the hero once again in the shootout as he saved Theo Walcott’s effort.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel hailed Kepa’s penalty skills and his ability to save penalties time after time.

“He produces. He is full of confidence,” said Tuchel.

“He has this experience now with us, and he has done it again and again.

“Just because you win a penalty shoot-out, does not mean you will do it again. Full credit to him.

“It’s a special thing in football and we were again concentrated and calm. Kepa was a big part of that.”
