“Give him some first-team minutes” “He will score goals for you” – Darren Bent begs Lampard to give chance to unused star at Chelsea to play

According to reports, Darren Bent has urged Chelsea to give David Datro Fofana the chance to prove himself during the final weeks of the season.

However, David Datro Fofana, who’s just 20, is a striker who moved to Stamford Bridge back in January.

The youngster could end costing the Blues £10million (BBC) from Molde, but he’s not had much of an opportunity in his opening few months in England.

He’s played three first-team games in Chelsea colours and been around the senior group, but he’s been dropping down to youth level for some game minutes.

When discussing Chelsea’s issues in the No.9 position, talkSPORT pundit Bent suggested Frank Lampard actually playing Fofana or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during the rest of the season.

“Chelsea’s problem at the moment is that they can’t score goals. Just give Aubameyang a run-out; he’s not going to be here next season. Fofana is another striker they’ve got; just give them a run-out to see what they can do,” Bent told talkSPORT.

Both Fofana and Aubameyang weren’t included in the Champions League squads, so can’t be in contention for tonight’s Champions League quarter-final tie against Madrid.

However, there’s still seven games left to play in the Premier League.

We definitely like the idea of giving Fofana some first-team minutes from now until the summer.

He’s not done too much during his brief time on the pitch with the senior group, but he deserves a few more chances before a fair judgement can be made.

Our guess is the Ivory Coast frontman could benefit from a loan spell next season at an English club. However, we’ll know a lot more about our player if he we do chuck him into the mix a bit more often in the coming weeks.

Chelsea’s season is completely petering out in the Premier League, so it’s time to be smart and make the most of the games.
