Good News: Scans gives ‘positive’ Kovacic injury update and gives returned date

Mateo Kovacic’s latest injury has been released, and it’s positive news for Chelsea fans.

The Croatian midfielder limped off during the first half of the Blues’ FA Cup game against Liverpool last night, and there were fears for the worst, especially after Frank Lampard said after the game that it was an “Achilles problem.”

Given the injury problems already hitting the squad hard, and the suspension of Jorginho for the next 4 games running, losing our top central midfielder for any period at all would have been a massive blow.

However the news today from Times reporter Tom Roddy say that the news from his scans is “positive”, with the injury believed to be “minor”.

While we would still have our doubts about his fitness to play this Sunday against Everton, especially given the sheer number of games he’s started recently, it doesn’t sound like he will be missing for significantly longer than that at least.

Certainly the Champions League return leg against Bayern in a couple of weeks looks very possible.
