‘He did the wrong thing’:  24-year-old Chelsea star slams for what he did against Burnley

Chelsea will be disappointed with their 2-2 draw with Burnley and the fact that they were only able to score twice.

Mauricio Pochettino‘s side had an incredible 33 shots and a man advantage after Lorenz Assignon’s dismissal towards the end of the first half.

Really, two goals at home against a 10-man Burnley should have been enough for Chelsea to secure all three points.

But that does not change the fact that the Blues did have so many other opportunities to score, with Nicolas Jackson, Raheem Sterling and Conor Gallagher wasting some really good ones.

Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy was quite critical of one of that trio, while Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has not held back either.

While Chelsea were able to take the lead in the first half thanks to Cole Palmer’s penalty, it could have been a much more comfortable first 45 minutes.

Palmer could have actually had a great opportunity to put the home side 1-0 up before his spot-kick if one of his team-mate’s decision-making was a bit better on the day.

During one bit of play, Gallagher could have passed the 21-year-old the ball and given him a clear shot at Arijanet Muric’s goal.

However, the midfielder decided to go for goal himself, which left Cundy far from impressed.

While commentating on the game for Chelsea’s official website (30/03/2024 at 15:25), he said: “It’s a poor decision from Conor. He’s got to give it to Palmer. He’s got acres of space. He plays it to Palmer, he’s got a shot one-v-one with the goalkeeper.”

Cundy also went on to add: “Conor has got that so badly wrong.”

Conor Gallagher set to leave Chelsea?
With his contract running down, Gallagher’s future has been up in the air for a while now, and there are now fresh reports about him leaving Stamford Bridge this summer.

According to The Times, Chelsea are planning to sell Gallagher to help them stay in line with Financial Fair Play regulations.

After his wastefulness yesterday, perhaps some Chelsea fans will not mind. But he has been such an important player for Pochettino this season.

The 24-year-old is just outside the top 10 Premier League players for tackles, recording 68 in the current campaign, according to the division’s official website.

He may be worth keeping around, though Pochettino has already admitted that decision is not down to him.
