William Gallas, a former Chelsea defender, thinks the Blues ought to try to sign Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, this summer.

After agreeing to a four-year deal in 2022, Fernandes is currently under contract at Old Trafford until 2026. This season, he has scored 15 goals across all competitions, making him United’s main man.

This week, reports surfaced suggesting that United might be open to offers for most of their roster.

Gallas urges Chelsea to sign Fernandes
The 29-year-old revealed this week, that if he were to think about his future it wouldn’t be until after the Euros this summer.

Chelsea and Manchester United have done business with each other in the past, with both Juan Mata and Mason Mount swapping London for Manchester in recent times.

Gallas believes Chelsea should be taking advantage of any uncertainty surrounding the Portugal international’s future, and that of team-mate Marcus Rashford.

“Both Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes could be good options for Chelsea”, Gallas told Gambling Zone.

“Both are quality players. Bruno could definitely be the kind of midfielder who has the quality to play in the number ten role where Chelsea lack strength.

“Chelsea are a team of young players and Bruno Fernandes has the leadership qualities to get through certain periods, he’d be a good signing if the rumours are true.”

Whilst Chelsea clearly lack leadership, which needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency in the upcoming transfer window, the chances of them making a move for Fernandes, and United allowing their captain to leave, appear remote at best.

The Blues main priority this summer will be a centre forward as they look to solve their goalscoring issues, with the club being linked to Benjamin Sesko, Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres.

Other areas that are believed to be a priority are left back, and centre back, with the Blue’s losing Thiago Silva at the end of the season, with Trevoh Chalobah believed to be on his way out as
