‘He just rejected Chelsea’s offer’ — as Chelsea player has no intention of staying at Chelsea next season
According to reports, Chelsea have four defenders who are in the final six months of their contracts with the club, and as things stand, no deal has been concluded so far.
Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta are all nearing the end of their contract with Chelsea.
At some point, Christensen was close to sealing a new contract with the club, but backed out at the dying minute, and both parties are yet to come to a fresh agreement.
Barcelona have been monitoring the situation for months and are eyeing a swoop for the Dane. Spanish newspaper Sport has now claimed that Christensen has decided to reject Chelsea’s offer and is now close to joining Barcelona.
According to Sport, Christensen and his reps have been in contact with Barca for weeks and the Catalan giants are now in ‘pole position’ to sign him.
Cash strapped Barcelona are also monitoring Azpilicueta’s situation and are keen on signing up the Chelsea captain for free as well.
