‘He needs to be more careful about it’ – Tuchel sends strong warning to Mason Mount after scoring hat-trick
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has warned it would be dangerous to assume Mason Mount is now fresh and no longer needs rest after his hat-trick in Chelsea’s 7-0 thrashing of Norwich on Saturday.
Tuchel had recently suggested that Mount, along with a number of his Chelsea teammates, were suffering with fatigue and the German tactician conceded he still needs to be careful managing the workloads of his players.
“It’s good because no matter what the coach says and how many good opportunities you have and how satisfied the coach is, the offensive guys need goals to feel happy and have full confidence. Tuchel told BT Sport.
“This will help him, he waited a long time, too long and it was good that he got some goals today.
“I don’t think it is a matter of now he is fresh and yesterday he was tired, it’s a process and we are still in between international games and breaks, so the next one is coming.
“It’s normal and a status that will not change from moment to moment and from one match to another. I agree that today he looked fresh again and it was good to put him on the pitch.
“We need to be careful with these players like Jorgi, like Romelu normally like Mason who play important roles in their national teams and are proud to play for their national teams and have a lot of competitions.”
