‘He wants Chelsea move! as Premier League player close to make Chelsea move after latest decision
The Blues are in the market for a new left-back this January after Ben Chilwell’s season-ending knee injury that needed surgery.
However, according to El Nacional via Football London, Everton left-back Lucas Digne is closing in on a move to Chelsea this January.
Chelsea seem to have beaten competition off Newcastle, West Ham and also Italian side Napoli, who were also all interested in the left-back.
Everton reportedly want £30million for the former Barcelona left-back.
Why is Lucas Digne leaving Everton this January?
Digne is keen on leaving Everton this January after falling out with Everton boss Rafa Benitez.
According to a report from The Athletic earlier in December, Digne was left out of the Everton squad for their win against Arsenal because of a ‘disagreement’ with Toffees boss Rafael Benitez.
Benitez left the Frenchman out of his 20-man squad to face the Gunners earlier in the month, with the report claiming the manager’s relationship with Digne took ‘another turn for the worse’.
Digne is said to be frustrated with his role in the Everton manager’s set-up, as well as being annoyed after he was taken off set-piece duty at Goodison Park.
Digne have three-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at Goodison and Everton are also reportedly ‘willing’ to allow the 28-year-old to leave the club on a loan deal with an option to buy.
Digne has not featured since the Toffees’ 4-1 loss at home to Liverpool and with the club signing Ukrainian left back Vitali Mykolenko, a move away looks likely.
Football London also claim the Blues are interested in a loan deal for the 28 year old Everton left-back with Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel keen on signing a replacement for injured Ben Chilwell this January.
