‘He’s a Chelsea player!’– Former Chelsea player urges Todd Boehly to sign Premier League star

According to latest reports, Chelsea have been told a potentially prolific Stamford Bridge striker is right under their noses as they prepare to sign a new goalscorer this summer.

No Chelsea player has reached double figures for goals this season, with Kai Havertz the club’s top goalscorer with nine from 36 appearances.

The Blues thought they had solved their goalscoring issues in the summer of 2021 when they re-signed Romelu Lukaku in a club-record deal worth £97.5m.

But the Belgium international largely struggled last season before joining Inter Milan on loan ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

Lukaku is due to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season but Chelsea are already considering selling the 29-year-old and replacing him with a new striker.

Chelsea are one of a number of clubs who have been linked with Napoli ace Victor Osimhen but Jason Cundy believes the Blues should look closer to home and poach a striker from a Premier League rival.

Cundy, who spent four years at Chelsea during his playing days, says Brentford talisman Ivan Toney has the potential to thrive at Stamford Bridge.

‘Ivan Toney has his issues off the field with what’s happening with the betting situation he’s been charged with. Let’s wait and see with all that.

‘But for me, he’s a Chelsea centre-forward. The way he is, the way he looks, the way he plays. He’s a Chelsea player.

‘We need a platform. We need a rugged, hard, clever, intelligent footballer up front. He ticks a lot of boxes. Plus, he knows the Premier League.’
