“He’s a real talent” “He makes life difficult for us” – Michael Carrick praise one Chelsea star after losing 6-1

Michael Carrick is confident that Cole Palmer will have a glittering career as a footballer.

The Manchester United great watched on as Palmer ran the show for Chelsea, who hit his side for six in the Carabao Cup semi-final on Tuesday night.

Palmer netted twice, with Axel Disasi and Enzo Fernandez also finding the target after an early Jonny Howson own goal put Chelsea in front.

Carrick said in a post-match interview: “He is a real talent. Nice lad as well. Down to Earth and you can see when you come up against him he will go on to have a great career.

“It’s not nice when you are on the end of it but we can appreciate and respect how good he is.”

On his side, the Boro head coach added: “They will learn from that after they have gotten over the disappointment. But yeah, we had a big night at the Riverside where we managed to beat a really good Chelsea team. We just couldn’t get it done here, unfortunately.”
