‘He’s a real winner, a future manager at Chelsea – Former Chelsea manager reveals
At 37, the veteran defender Thiago Silva has earned an extra year in his Chelsea contract, and his performances have been top notch.
However, Former Chelsea youth coach and assistant first team coach Jody Morris has hailed the quality of Chelsea defender Thiago Silva.
Frank Lampard and Jody Morris were responsible for brining the Brazilian to Chelsea, and Silva hasn’t looked back since then.
Meanwhile, Jody Morris has revealed another side to the Brazilian’s game – saying that he has a managerial side to him and will definitely be a coach once his playing career is done.
Morris told talkSPORT: “The reason he is doing it is because he is world class and he is a top, top professional who does everything he can to make sure he’s in the right condition to play a game and to train.”
“One of the concerns we had when we signed him was can he play week in, week out. You don’t really want to be taking out centre-halves.
“We came back from games and he’d be on the phone talking to Frank and wanted to speak about things that had gone on in the game.
“He’s a student of the game and a future manager as well.
“Not only from his own performances, but from the way he wants to organise, he gives people a kick up the backside when they deserve it and making mistakes they shouldn’t.
“Little speeches he gives before the game, he’s a real winner.
“I thought he was a top player before he came to Chelsea and admired him from afar, but when you see him close up and the level he’s performing at you see he’s an amazing player.”
