‘He’s a winner’ – Pochettino told to bring 14-goal ‘soldier’ to Chelsea

‘He’s a winner’ – Pochettino told to bring 14-goal ‘soldier’ to Chelsea

Frank Leboeuf has urged CHELSEA to launch a shock move for Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Despite spending £600 million in the last couple of transfer windows – Chelsea do not have a striker that has the ability to score on a weekly basis – nevermind hit 30-goals a season.

Chelsea played Kai Havertz as a striker for much of the season but the position does not come naturally to the Germany international, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also struggled at Chelsea following a deadline-day move from Barcelona.

New Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino is expected to spend big on a star striker this summer, and there has been some big names linked with monster moves to Stamford Bridge.

But amid that speculation – Lebeouf has encouraged the Blues to make a move for Mitrovic.

Mitrovic enjoyed an impressive 2022-23 campaign, scoring 14 goals in 24 Premier League appearances to help Fulham secure a top-half finish following promotion from the Championship last season.

‘We need a striker, and I think we need someone like Aleksandar Mitrovic from Fulham would work,’ Leboeuf wrote in a column for Si & Dan Talk Chelsea.

‘Mitrovic has the real mentality, he would move the dressing room.

‘I think Mitrovic has a similar personality to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he can be that type of guy, he has the mentality of winner.

‘I like soldiers. Those guys never never blink, they never let go, they always face up to it. I love it.

‘He’s done very well for Fulham and he wouldn’t need to move that far away to join Chelsea!’
