‘He’s done let him go’: Darren Bent tells Chelsea to sell £150,000 per week as Lampard keeps benching him
According to Darren Bent has urged Chelsea to sell Ruben Loftus-Cheek at the end of the season.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek, 27, is a player whose Chelsea career has never quite reached the heights many expected.
The versatile midfielder has provided a useful squad option in the past couple of years, but the club’s academy graduate is unable to cement himself as a key player at Stamford Bridge. In fact, his peak in a Chelsea shirt was back in the 2018/19 campaign under Maurizio Sarri.
With just over a year left on his current deal, it’ll be interesting to see what Chelsea do with Loftus-Cheek this summer.
The Evening Standard reports this week that Chelsea are prepared to allow the sale of Loftus-Cheek in the summer transfer window.
Let’s wait and see if there are any takers for the £120,000-a-week (Spotrac) central midfielder.
Frank Lampard, who’s in the position as Chelsea’s caretaker boss, keeps benching Loftus-Cheek since returning to the Bridge.
We don’t know what the club’s next permanent manager will make of him, though.
Perhaps Loftus-Cheek can try get some game time in the final seven games of the season to try remind everyone of his ability.
TalkSPORT pundit Bent thinks that Loftus-Cheek needs to finally leave Chelsea.
“I think Loftus-Cheek has been there for some time now. It’s almost like we’re still waiting for Loftus-Cheek to [reach] the potential,” Bent told talkSPORT.
“No, I think his time is done now. I think they need to let him go.”
We feel this is a no-brainer when looking at potential exits in the summer window.
