Chelsea fans have been discussing the future of Emerson on Twitter, and it is fair to say that some of them want him gone now that the transfer window is open.

Emerson has recently been linked with a move to Inter Milan but, according to Goal journalist Nizaar Kinsella, the 25-year-old wants to stay at Stamford Bridge and fight for his place.

That has not gone down well with every supporter, though, with some clearly unconvinced by his quality, or lack of it, after a disappointing few weeks. He was, of course, hooked off before half-time in the 2-1 win away at Arsenal, with the Blues’ performance improving drastically after he was replaced by Jorginho.

“[Jorginho] offered far more control at the base of a midfield three and also pressed hard when he could,” Football.London wrote when explaining what the Emerson-Jorginho change did for the team.

In Emerson’s defence, one could argue Chelsea changing system is what flipped the game against their London rivals rather than a simple substitution by itself.

Whatever the case, the Italy international is clearly not the most popular man in west London right now.
