‘He’s way better than him ‘: Tony Cascarino confirms club have replaced £62m Chelsea man with World class player

Chelsea signed Marc Cucurella from Brighton & Hove Albion back in the 2022 summer transfer window.

It was an expensive deal, with Chelsea paying their Premier League rivals around £62m for his signature (The Guardian).

With Marc Cucurella departing, Brighton signed Pervis Estupinan to replace the left-back and Tony Cascarino actually thinks he is better than his predecessor. The former Chelsea striker was speaking about the two players on talkSPORT.

Cucurella is currently out injured and is not expected to be back until next month.

Pervis Estupinan a better player than Marc Cucurella

According to Cascarino, Estupinan is a better footballer than Cucurella.

Discussing the two left-backs earlier, the talkSPORT pundit said: “I think he’s way better than Cucurella. I think he’s way ahead. He’s a much more physical, accomplished, dangerous, wing-back and full-back. I think they’ll probably get between £60m and £80m for him if they really had to sell him.

“I think someone would pay it if they really feel they need that type of [player]. I just love what he gives to a team. I think he’s one of the best out there.”

Chelsea need more from Marc Cucurella

It is not a complete surprise to hear the above. Cucurella has not stolen headlines since arriving at Stamford Bridge.

He has not even nailed down a starting spot. For over £60m, you would expect much more from the Spaniard and Chelsea need much more after making that kind of investment.

However, the former Brighton man has shown his value this season. He has played at both left-back and right-back, which has proven useful after all the injuries Chelsea have had in the full-back position.

Unfortunately, though, he now falls into that bracket. It really has been a problem area for Mauricio Pochettino.

The absences of English duo Reece James and Ben Chilwell, two key players for Chelsea, is probably one reason why the club have struggled so much in the current campaign.
