“His confidence is back now” “He’s fearless” –  Florent Malouda really loves what £30m Chelsea man did in 5-0 win over West Ham

Chelsea easily defeated West Ham United on Sunday afternoon at Stamford Bridge.

Having scored three goals in the first half, Mauricio Pochettino’s team won 5-0.

The Chelsea players who gave their team a 3-0 lead were Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, and Noni Madueke.

After that, Nicolas Jackson scored a brace, increasing the score 5-0 and ending West Ham’s day in complete humiliation.

Now that the Blues have truly increased the pressure on Manchester United, the team has to draw or better against Crystal Palace tomorrow in order to reclaim the final European football spot.

Florent Malouda shares what he loves about £30m Chelsea player

It was a really good team performance by Chelsea, with the attackers particularly impressing.

That includes Madueke, and former Chelsea forward Florent Malouda discussed what he really likes about the winger during the game.

Discussing Madueke while on commentary duty for the Blues’ official website Malouda said: “What I love is that he will take players on. He commits players and at times, he will give the ball away, but then we just saw the other side of him.

“That’s exactly what I’m talking about; is that [Lucas] Paqueta who brings him down? Yes, it is. And again, he’s brave. He takes players on.”

Madueke is absolutely fearless and the stats back it up.

As per FBref, going into today’s game against West Ham, Madueke had averaged 3.67 successful take-ons per 90 minutes. It puts him in the 95th percentile among attacking midfielders and wingers for that category.

The England U21 international really is not afraid to have a go at his full-back. In the Premier League, there probably are not too many wide men who are as good in one-v-one situations as he is, if any at all.

For Madueke, it is now about consistency, and that should come with age. The former PSV Eindhoven man, who joined Chelsea in a £30m deal, is still just 22 years old.
