“Honestly he’s certainly the best” – Arsene Wenger says of former Chelsea man

Former Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole has been inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame.

Cole who made 385 Premier League appearances, is seen by many as the best left-back in the Premier League era. He contributed to 147 clean sheets, scored 15 goals and made 31 assists.

Ashley Cole was part of Arsenal’s Invincible squad, and also won the Premier League with Chelsea in 2009/10 and the Champions League in 2011/12.

Cole also lifted the FA Cup four times, the League Cup in 2006/07 and the Europa League in 2012/13 for the Blues.

Cole, now 43, is the first in the 2024 class of inductees to be announced and more are set to follow.

Arsene Wenger has admitted the Chelsea legend is the best left-back in the Premier League era.

“It’s always difficult to make a hierarchy, but he’s certainly the best,” said Wenger when asked if Cole is the greatest left-back in the Premier League ever.

“He’s honestly one of the few players who I always say that moved on and continued to develop, and that shows remarkable intelligence and remarkable consistency in the effort.

“When you look at what he did at the club level and the number of games he has, over 100 caps for England, it shows remarkable consistency. That is always the mark of a big player.”
