Hudson-Odoi & Reece James return date revealed

Both Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James have returned to training lately.

The winger has been sidelined with Achilles tendon rupture since April while the full-back picked an ankle ligament injury in early June.

The duo could return to the league action following next month’s international break (September 2-13), according to Frank Lampard.

“Callum’s training, he’s looking bright and sharp, but we are in the zone where it’s about protecting him and getting condition and fitness, particularly with his injury.

He’s had quite a long time out,” he told the club’s official website on Friday.

Even though Lampard has earlier claimed Tony Rudiger could feature against Sheffield next Saturday, the boss now says the centre-back’s return could also be postponed until next month.

“Same with Rudiger slightly. We have to be careful,” he added. “The international break comes at a good time for us with both those and Reece James.

They are all in a position where I hope two or three weeks of strong training puts them right in the frame to be back in the squad and available.”
