Chelsea were linked heavily with Luka Jovic for most of last season. We were floundering without a decent striker, playing Eden Hazard up top or watching Alvaro Morata suffer while Jovic rattled them in for Frankfurt.
However, He even scored against us in the Europa League semi final.
But when the summer came, we were banned from transfers and Real Madrid were able to swoop in and buy him.
That was a blow for us, but it hasn’t worked out for Madrid either. The striker was struggling so badly in Spain that by January links for an early exit for him – possibly to us – were already being made.
This hiatus isn’t helping him either, and the latest whispers from Spain are that his manager Zinedine Zidane has had enough.
Don Balon quote the manager saying that he’s “doesn’t want him in the team,” and that the Serbian striker is “out.”
If true, that obviously gives massive hope to Chelsea in any potential future pursuit of the hitman as competition for Tammy Abraham.
