‘I hope we can play together at Chelsea’ – Kovacic finally speaks on £90m Chelsea transfer target
According to reports, RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol has been linked with Chelsea all summer, and while the window has now closed, the rumours will go on.
The Blues play against Dinamo Zagreb tomorrow, and their own Croat Mateo Kovacic was the man chosen to speak to the press ahead of the game.
Laughed with local media about the fact that his Chelsea teammates had asked him about his international teammate, having obviously seen the rumours too.
“I have seen in the national team how eager he is to play, he has a great career ahead of him, and I hope that one day we will play together in the club,” Kovacic said in quotes picked up by the Evening Standard.
Our slew of signings this summer always made it look like Gvardiol was getting pushed back in the queue, but we would be very interested to see where he ends up in a year’s time, especially if he’s got Mateo in his all for all that time.
