“I liked what he said“: Chelsea player reveals after his departure from Stamford bridge
The Champions league winner keeps selling and loaning players as the Blues are yet to secure a major signing that the Blues fans needed.
However, Chelsea confirmed on Friday that midefielder Conor Gallagher has left the club on a season-long loan deal to Crystal Palace.
The club released a statement thus: “Conor Gallagher has completed a move to Crystal Palace that will see him spend the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Selhurst Park.”
It will be a second Premier League loan exit for the 21-year-old, who made 32 appearances and scored two goals for West Brom last season. Gallagher has had previous loan spells at Charlton Athletic and Swansea City in the Championship, and has garnered 77 senior games in total over the past two years.
The Chelsea midfielder will reunite with former Blues academy star Marc Guehi who has sealed a permanent move to Palace as well.
Speaking about his move to Palace, the 21-year-old admitted he was excited by new manager Patrick Vieira and the team he’s building.
He told Palace’s website: “I liked what he said, I liked how he wants to play, how he wants me to play and how he wants the team to play.
“I feel like I can learn from him and the players around me. I think that’s the main thing.
“I feel like [playing box to box] suits me perfectly, which is one of the reasons why I came here and is the way he wants to play as well. Hopefully that can help me show what I can do.”
