‘I said this to him, “He still said no that he wants Chelsea,’: Pep Guardiola reveals one reason why Palmer left for Chelsea

Cole Palmer left Man City for Chelsea on the final day of the summer transfer window.

The Englishman has proven to be a coup for the Blues as the 21-year-old has three goals and five assists in 10 appearances so far.

Pep Guardiola has recalled that it was Palmer who pushed for a move to the Bridge.

Pep told the Guardian: “Cole arrived and accepted some processes and then after one or two years said: ‘No, I don’t want to play here, I am not going to play.’

“But I said: ‘Riyad [Mahrez] is leaving, you are going to get a chance here,’ and he said: ‘No, I am not going to play here, I want to leave,’ so I said: ‘OK, leave.’ He got what he wanted. It is good for him.

“He is a young player, a huge talent otherwise he would not have been here. He is a nice lad and is doing really good.”
