‘I swear everyone would be shocked’: Chelsea star says nobody knows what really happened to him this summer
Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku has claimed that people would be shocked to hear what happened to him over the summer.
He told Sport Italia that he will speak in due time about exactly what happened to him before he was loaned away from Stamford Bridge.
There was clearly no future for Lukaku at Chelsea this season, even with new manager Mauricio Pochettino bringing his new ideas to the club.
Inter Milan looked the best bet after his successful season there last season.
This didn’t happen though, with him somehow managing to burn bridges with yet another club.
Lukaku says nobody knows what happened
Now, the Belgian has claimed that people would be shocked if they heard about how things went down for him last summer.
He said: “Most of the people here in the room know me . I don’t like beating around the bush. I’ll speak in time, but if I actually said how last summer went, everyone would be shocked. There were times when I really thought I might explode, five years ago I probably wouldn’t have stood back and done it.
“Now I focused on what I do best, I know how to play football. I worked hard all summer. I also have to thank Radja Nainggolan for giving me the contact with Roma.”
Lukaku has enjoyed an extremely strong start to the season at Roma, where he is finding the net constantly despite their indifferent beginning to the campaign.
However many goals he scores though, it will not be enough to see the 30-year-old return to the starting side at Stamford Bridge at any stage.
