‘I’ll send him that message’ – Frank Lampard thanks Chelsea player for helping Everton relegation zone
Everton overcame Chelsea 1-0 thanks to a Cesar Azpilicueta blunder, boosting their prospects of staying up.
However, Everton then failed to defeat demoted Watford, while Chelsea thrashed Leeds United 3-0, a result that favored Everton more.
Lampard complimented Chelsea for the win after the game against Everton, praising Mason Mount, who scored the game’s first goal and also provided an assist.
The former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard said: “I’ll send him [Mason Mount] a message later of thanks. Those things are out of your hands but Mason’s a fantastic player and I’m pleased for him that he’s getting those numbers because he is a player of such a high level and those numbers reflect it.
“It’s brilliant for him and Chelsea did us a favour getting that result, but we have to make sure we do our own thing to get this over the line.”
