‘I’m just not sure about it’ – Paul Scholes Chelsea comments come back to bite him after Man United lost 5-0 to Liverpool
Following Manchester United 5-0 defeat to Liverpool, pressure is growing on Ole Gunnar Solksjaer after Manchester United were heavily beaten by Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.
A hat-trick from Mohamed Salah as well as goals from Naby Keita and Diogo Jota were enough to condemn the Red Devils to an embarrassing 5-0 defeat at the hands of one of their closest rivals.
Defeat means that United are now on 14 points, already 8 adrift from early leaders Chelsea.
Incidentally, Paul Scholes recently claimed that Thomas Tuchel ’s Blues side won’t win the Premier League this season because their defence isn’t good enough.
Responding to a Chelsea fan on Sky Sports’ The Overlap show, Scholes said: “I also don’t think you’re [Chelsea] great defensively.”
“I think [Antonio] Rudiger’s been really good but, other than that, you’ve got Thiago Silva who’s 36 or 37, Andreas Christensen’s a young player.
“I think in the middle of the pitch you’re alright. Jorginho and [N’Golo] Kante are really good players.
“I’m just not sure that you’ll score enough goals and that you’re defensively good enough.”
However, unfortunately for the United legend, that comment has already come back to bite him after his beloved side were humiliated by Liverpool in front of their home crowd.
Chelsea have conceded just three goals in nine games so far in the league this season, keeping six clean sheets in the process.
Their latest success came in a triumphant 7-0 win over Norwich City at the weekend, as Mason Mount netted a hat-trick of his own to help lead Chelsea to a huge victory at Stamford Bridge.
