‘I’m not going to lie, we met on the street’ – Lampard finally reveals what Mourinho did to him after Chelsea sacked him
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has opened up on his relationship with former boss Jose Mourinho and revealed the frictions they both had while Mourinho was in charge of Tottenham.
Lampard also revealed the encouragement he got from Mourinho after he was sacked as Chelsea manager.
However, The former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was with Gary Neville on The Overlap YouTube channel this week to discuss his past and future plans in the game.
Frank Lampard told Overlap: “I bumped into Jose [Mourinho] on the street just after getting sacked and he had a mask on as it was Covid and he whips his mask off.”
“Before that when he was at Tottenham we were a little bit like that [signals friction], I’m not going to lie. And he came over and gave me a big hug and said:
“Now you’re a real manager because you’ve been sacked!”, and I was like: ‘Cheers!’
“But I loved it and that’s the world we’re living in.”
