‘In the 93rd minute’ — FA charged Leeds United after latest fight at Stamford Bridge as they release fresh statement
Chelsea and Leeds United played out an intense game at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, as the Blues scored a stoppage time penalty goal to take all three points.
After the referee gave Chelsea a late penalty following a foul on Antonio Rudiger, the Leeds United players crowded the referee and protested furiously against the decision.
After the full-time whistle, the Leeds United players didn’t relent again, and got into a melee with the Chelsea players near the sidelines as they had to be separated by other players and officials.
The FA have now charged Leeds with failing to control their players after their reaction to Chelsea’s late penalty.
The FA statement reads: “The players surrounded the match referee in the 93rd minute and Leeds have been charged with a breach of the FA rules.”
