‘In the next five years let’s build Chelsea team around him’ – Joe Cole tells Pochettino to build his team around Chelsea super star
Former Chelsea star, Joe Cole has said he believes that Cole Palmer is a player for the future.
Cole made this known while speaking with TNT Sports after Chelsea beat Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 on Monday, to climb to 10th on the league table.
Palmer scored Chelsea’s first and equalising goal of the game, before setting up one of Nicolas Jackson’s three goals in the second half.
The 21-year-old has only been at Chelsea since the start of the season, but he has shown great promise, and is fast-becoming a favourite among the fans.
“The one player who has stood out for me over the past few weeks is Cole Palmer, a young player,” Cole said, before adding that Palmer reminds him of James Maddison.
“He has the mindset, he reminds me a lot of James Maddison, he’s probably more forward-thinking than James, he’s more of a forward while James is more of a midfielder.
“He’s one who over the next five years, we can build a team [around] and he will be an integral part of it.”
