‘Incredible potential’… Gus Poyet believes 23-year-old Chelsea player can become a superstar

Former Chelsea star Gus Poyet has now claimed that there is a player currently at the club who has the potential to be an absolute superstar.

He told TalkSPORT that he believes winger Mykhailo Mudryk has the potential to be an incredible player if he is offered the right coaching from this point onwards.

It has very much been a stop and start season for Mudryk, who has found a regular run of starts or even appearances very difficult to come by.

He has found the net on multiple occasions this season, however it seems this has not been enough for Mauricio Pochettino to trust him with a regular run of fixtures.

There have certainly been glimpses of him proving the potential that those at the club who signed him clearly believe he has, however will probably have been expecting more of him this season.

Poyet however has claimed he still believes there is a big future for the Ukraine international, and hopes he can achieve it at Stamford Bridge.

Poyet praises Mudryk
He said: “The speed. I think he needs something to click. You need to know the person as well. There are some players who understand straight away, but some you need to repeat it or show them. You’ve got 26 different people learning in different ways.

“I don’t know him, but he has got incredible potential. It would be such a shame if it doesn’t work out at Chelsea.”

At this stage, it looks very unlikely that Mudryk will be trusted with a start for the club’s biggest game of the season on Sunday at Wembley.

The Blues will face Liverpool in the EFL Cup final, as Pochettino looks to win his first trophy in English football.

He will be facing a number of attacking selection dilemmas, with him surely looking to find a way to start Christopher Nkunku.
